This Strip is Not Safe For Work!

so until we decide on a final name I thought maybe I should get a temporary .hu domain ###### (they are only about ~3 usd a year and the site could finally have ssl) and I'd like to go through some ideas for a domain name with you guys (please don't take it too seriously.. this is a brainstorm after all) ###### (also: we might need to stop using the site for a few day because registering might be a quick everyday process but changing which domain the storage belongs to is a convoluted confusing and painful process .. as I learned during switching to the previous version of the site.. I will warn you beforehand but it would take a few weeks-months until we get there anyway .. so just a heads up)

so to get the obvious out of the way: ### panelchutney.hu (available but kind of boring imho) ### peyo.hu (short and simple .. but it would be a better fit for a personal website) ### chut.hu (I kind of prefer this one as it's very short and has somehing to do with the site ) ### chutul.hu (unfortunately cthul.hu is not available .. but then again that would better fit a lovecraft fansite) ### panelblock.hu ### panelclog.hu ### paneltrouble.hu (more play on the JAM theme) ### panelham.hu (we could have a piggy as the favicon 🐷 and also a play on the JAM theme) ### relish.hu (strangely enough it's available .. just putting it in as a curiosity) ### barftogether.hu (.. don't ask .. moving on..) ### chutne.hu (chut is better .. and this feels harder to remember) ### panelpredicament.hu (another play on the JAM theme and guaranteed to be hard to remember and type .. but kind of funny) ### panelspot.hu (another play on the JAM theme .. I guess if this site was a true business competitor it could be seriously considered .. but alas we are not) ### paneldilemma.hu (JAM synonym again .. i just think it's funny) ### panelbox.hu (how is box a synonym for jam I don't know .. but it's short and snappy and easy to remember and type so it's included here)

i kinda like chut.hu one idea for a domain i had was stripquips.hu

masterchuandthedrunkard.hu (kidding, but awesome) satval.hu (saturation, value, hue) pikac.hu raic.hu (ad nauseam) Actually I think peyo.hu would be my number one choice because it's accurate, meaningful, easy to remember, and I can pretend it's a Hungarian fan site for the creator of the Smurfs.

My vote is for c.hu above all others just because it's short and impossible to forget! Also C can be short for Chutney which is what I think of the site as anyway. Not that any of the names are bad, just c.hu makes the most practical sense and is snappiest.

i really like c.hu if its available, then it means the programmers dont want it (theyre probably more into .net, .com, .org) its a really short and convenient domain, easy to remember and also allows people to have fun with it when making references!

Another funny idea would be oo.hu and the oo could secretly represent the boobies on your cat lady character.

i'm kind of glad you didn't suggest ooo.hu .. But whatever is decided on, it’s going to be an awesome site, and I’m sure however boring the name might be, the creative minds here will find ways of incorporating the site name into many amazing drawings and animations ☺️ And although not available, oo.hu would have been awesome 😆

And I kind of choose my top 6 in no particular order, c.hu for it is to remember and others seemed to also appreciate that, but to be fair, it is pretty boring. ok I added a warning message currently the winner is `c.hu` the update will be done tomorrow if everything goes well it won't take more than 10 minutes but it may not go well.. so I'll make a backup of the whole site just in case beforehand (if there is a second full restart it won't be as bad as the first) I'll let you know when it's all done: when the warning is gone it will be safe to draw

first of all the good news: `c.hu` is ours! registering seem to take a while though.. moving might be postponed by a few days (?) edit: read some articles: international domains should take minutes, max 24hrs hu domains can take several workdays .. and might be vetoed in 8 days after that arrgh .. welcome to hungarian bureaucracy everyone .. removed the warning, this will definetly take a while

.us youd probably have a hard time getting. it says this in wikipedia so it might not be 100% accurate, but for .us it says "Registrants must be United States citizens, residents, or organizations, or a foreign entity with a presence in the United States."

I'm probably not going to be a great deal of help on this because outside of keeping the domain short, easy to remember and easy to use in tribute art, I don't have a lot of inspiration with regard to the domain name itself. My second place choice would be like ac.hu because being a sneeze sound, it's easy to remember, and it's simple to use in tribute art since any time a character is drawn sneezing (which can range from as harmless and cute to as gross and graphic as one wants so it keeps it open to all ends of the artistic spectrum) it can become a tribute by having their caption for the sneeze be ac.hu! Also it leads to some neat tagline ideas likening artistic expression to an illness, or an allergy, or to something infectious, or something that gets up one's nose in general, forcing an expulsion of creative output. So my main vote would be for ac.hu but I am not against any domain.

Dang it, wu.hu would have been great because you could have said the wu-hu lab was the source of the Chutney 19 outbreak because people were drawing bats! hooty.hu is my favorite option just for ease of remembering, and also you can draw an owl lady with big hooty hooters! hu boy

Hooty.hu is my choice too it's not that the others are bad it's just they aren't as easy to reduce to an elemental concept.

Peyo, just remember you need to get a domain name you personally really like! That's the most important thing, all the other aspects of it are secondary. You should choose something you like to have representing you and your work you have done to make this site a reality.

I'm perfectly happy with c.hu it's just .. such a typical thing in this country that such a simple everyday thing like a domain name would be so much hassle and i'm just mad at myself for walking into it

the brainstorming is still on for a better domain (and I'm still looking a final name for the site too) this is really just a temp address: it's just I'm desperate and wanted SSL really badly and couldn't get one for the free domain (the hosting service doesn't allow ssl for free domains) and the later we do it the more complicated it gets (making the old address route for this new safe one will be tricky enough)

Actually pchutney is growing on me, because it's so easy to just type pc and have it auto-complete! I even started saying it like "puh-chutney." Also it was a great move because one user I was trying to get to join literally couldn't without SSL so it's great to have it. It sounds like a city in New York or Pennsylvania, like "Please send submissions to our home office in Puhchutney, NY"

would you need to go through the buerocracy every year to keep extending hooty.hu, or is it just something where you just right now only got it for a year? unless you do not want to use it as the sites domain, id say to use it for the site?

MediaWiki (the one used by wikipedia) is tricky because there are some php version shenanigans also there seem to be some sites where you can set up your own but that is Plan B .. (they looked rather shady to me like they advertise to be free but they mean free for max 3 users etc.)

Your work ethic is admirable Peyo, you are given an idea or come up with an idea, and within 24hrs you have something up and running 👍 If it were me, I’d spend a few days just planning, then a few weeks waiting to get started, fumbling around while debating with myself if it’s worth the effort, then either I get started and a few weeks later I have a rough draft planned out, or, more often then I’d like, I scrap the whole thing and never even start 😅

`Painovoima` planning is what the smart and responsible people do (not how I roll) but there was not much effort on my part for the wiki: I ran an install script and it somehow worked

Ha ha, but I feel one can overdue it on the planning, making it the less intelligent option, being overly cautious that is. There is major smarts to how you roll my friend, you have a balance of quality and quantity at an impressive rate!
