putting top as a category under home might make the top bar a little cleaner ,,,, maybe like a "sort by" category that can sort by newest (completed) and top? 😸😸

do you mean like combining the 'home' and the 'top' page? πŸ€”

yes!!! i think it would make sense to have the home page and be able to have a filter (ex. sort by newest, sort by top) so it kind of streamlines some stuff

I'm a bit on the fence about the idea πŸ€” on one hand it means less work and a more streamlined site sounds good but still it would be nice to have some sort of welcoming page .. and I'm not sure where I would put the 'recently finished strips' section either πŸ€”

recently finished strips is already kind of the default!!! what i mean is by putting top strips under the home page (or the completed page since theyre very similar) i think it might be better visually since a new user might get confused by all the tabs

I guess I should at least put buttons leading to the top page there.. πŸ€” we could have a pop up menu and hiding all the features on the footer (like on drawception - that seems to be the standard) but i'm not sure about that either πŸ€”

I would not recommend the footer approach. It took me years of being on Drawception to find out there was a forum, cause it was hidden in the footer. Having a site map on the footer isn't terrible, but it shouldn't be the sole method of accessing features!

thatb makes sense.. it's probably better left alone for now but i trust everything peyo does with the website

maybe we just need to brainstorm more on this .. πŸ€” we could do something like turn `Groups` `Completed` and `Underway` into a new subcategory e.g. `Strips` and make the navigation like it is now in Feed πŸ€” (and move the random dice to the top of the strip page instead?) or just have two rows on top? πŸ€” (maybe they will look less complicated that way.. but I'm not sure)

i think putting the dice under a subcategory might make it harderto find (maybe a well labeled drop down menu that keeps some of the lesser used things out of the way like wiki?? people will more likely 2 click around and find out what to do then)) or maybe someone could make a forum post for new users that explains the different pages and what theyrefor like a WELCOME TO PANEL CHUTNE!Y!! sorta thing

i just checked the wiki and it has a tutorial so maybe something more along the lines of: new user registers welcome screen that links to wiki so they can understand how everything works and what the header's buttons are for in case they leave before being able to read, the welcome screen appears every time they visit (while logged in) until they make their first panel or 'dismiss' the screen? dont know if we have slmething like this in place yet (i could add a section to the wiki explaining the different website sections if i have time... 🐁🐁)

alas form experience I know that people are more than prepared to not to read instructions πŸ€” right now for new users the (+new) button is animated at the top bar (for limited users that is) but I'm not sure it's helped things anyway πŸ€” I guess it's a good idea to add instructions on the home page as well πŸ€” maybe we could have a double menu? (like on the mobile version) like both the top bar and the very same thing on a dropdown? πŸ€”

`Peyo` Since this is literally a comic site, wouldn't doing instructions in the form of comics and linking to them be the easiest thing? A comic could cover a specific task and you could have them linked via the wiki as well.

`Peyo` also one thing I wanted to point out, with something like Groups, let's say I'm a new user and I see the "Groups" header. How long does it take me to find something that clearly states what groups are, how to use them, or anything of the sort? That kind of info should be readily available because Groups is just an arbitrary term.

I think the Groups page should have a blurb at the top of the page, cause yeah the name isn't really that self-explanatory. Something like "Groups are collections of strips users can assign for sorting series and themes. Learn more about them HERE [link to wiki article]" Also, when it comes to the Groups page! I feel like groups with fewer than two entries should be filtered out by default. A group of one is hardly a group! But have like a button that lets you unfilter the one-strip groups if you want to see what tags are already in use It would help make browsing the page easier!

a hint blurb for the groups sounds like a good idea πŸ€” i'm not sure about removing the single strip groups though: like this way you wouldn't know setting it up worked and you might get confused by it πŸ€” its also a good idea to make helper comics .. but I'm not sure which parts exactly confuse new people like we are dealing with survivor bias here I would need to talk with people who decided to not post after all to know for sure πŸ€”

Which is part of the reason I'm suggesting also putting a button on the page to "unfilter"/"show all" Like right at the top Plus you can see the group the strip is in on the strip's page and it will link to it! Something like this ![Default state](https://i.imgur.com/up1O41S.png) And then after pressing the SHOW ALL button ![Everything visible](https://i.imgur.com/vrJi5Cv.png)

oh I see, sorry I missed that πŸ€” hmm.. might need some hardcore sql magic to pull it off (right now it's just a simple distinct gathering of unique names) but that is what robots are for πŸ€–
