Some strips don't even need a claim system! For recent strips like the Halloween Costume one or Draw Someone Else's OC where it's just a list of unrelated images, allowing people to submit panels without having to claim the strip would speed things along. Nobody would have to wait! They could submit like pow.

hear hear one single issue with it is that right now the claim system is needed for the backup system to work properly 😔 I will need to figure out a way to get around that first 🤔

they are stored on the cloud .. I mean our server 🤔 I need to change the naming system and without breaking older backups (the second is the hard part)

I was just kidding about the cloud, or so I thought!

sorry, I never know when people do 😔 (ever since they started calling servers 'clouds' things have been confusing for everyone in tech 🤔)

I would like to point out that this could potentially cause problems with strip limits. For example, there being one submission slot and two people drawing for it. How should the latter submission be handled? Made into a sequel, or tagged on the end of the strip, or just submitted as an honorable mention? Just curious as to what the solution would be, though it's probably not super likely to come up all that often. I guess additionally we could make time limit based strips, as in, (submit within this time frame, no real panel limit). Anyhow, just some thoughts.

I'd imagine Pile-On strips would have to be exempt from having panel limits, besides like having some sanity check that you don't get a strip with a million panels! What are older backups? Stuff people have drawn a while ago but never submitted? I'd honestly just give like a warning like a week ahead of time and any old backups get wiped! It might not sound ideal, but I'm not sure trying to work around it is the best solution either.

the strip limit is less of a problem (from the coding perspective at least) you can go over the limit without problem (and in theory the worst can happen is not let new people draw if they too late) the way the backups work is that they only get erased after you submit your piece for this there are no issues the bigger problem is that the animation system relies on them tied to the image number (so all in-progress animations can be potentially compromised if i'm not careful) I guess the solution would be for pile-on strips to have special backups that only store strip and user (and not let people make pile-on animations) 🤔

Not having pile-on animations makes sense! Those actually rely on things being in sequence and people seeing the panels prior to it. Pile-on would be more for non-sequential gallery sort of strips
