Comments
- need to update site for mobiles
good news is I didn't expect the drawing javascript to
work on mobiles at all but it seem to do
bad news is you can only draw dots
[edit: check]
- adding a new comment bumps strips to the top of the order
I think I'll keep it for in-progress strips
but definetly not for completed
[edit: check]
- on mobile it's confusing that enters actually work
for comments (you expect it to just post)
[edit: nofix for now -- it's not that bad]
- color picker tool
firefox only opens the default windows color select
only chrome's has a fancy color picker
[edit: check]
- so far I did not bother to test anything on IE
(or is it called now Edge?)
[edit: doesn't seem that anyone uses it here]
- comment text area should be as wide as the comment section
it supposed to cut off too long sentences
but it's confusing right now how much it will cut off
- add editing comments so I can check finished stuff
on the todo list
[edit: and check]
- missing sections (not even started them yet)
all finished strips by user
all in-progress strips by user
toplist of most liked strips
[edit: check]
- Claimed menu option to be in different color
if you got strips passed to you
[Edit; or just a message with the new system for it?]
- Random should try to move to a panel
that is different from the current one
- adding a new topic shouldn't error out on too much
white space in the title
(only should strip out the html tags)
site looks uglier than sin
need to figure out better looking colors at least
[edit: nevermind it's hopeless]
- update front page news
we now got a host with 3 gigs space
and unlimited bandwidth
whats missing is the own domain (needed for https)
(shouldn't cost a lost but I want to get most things
fixed before investing in one)
(shouldn't cost a lot)
- adding this twice just in case:
add editing for comments
- originally thumbnails were generated to save bandwidth
but that is no longer needed
just use the first panel for the thumbnail
- most pages were carefully designed to be easily
archivable by wayback yet it goes in an infinite loop
on the main page
(no idea how to solve this one yet)
strips title should use the 'big'thumb of the avatar (?)
[edit: nah it's fine as it is]
completed strips: likes should be higher
[edit: likes not shown on completed anymore]
- panel descriptions should be optional
(its already marked as non required but still insists to be filled)
(also add confirm to submit button)
- home should show the latest completed strips
(but until testing is done the message should show)
can add next panel to friends only strips (even if not friend)
[edit: fixed]
- either enforce 2 panels minimum .. or set minimum for single panel
(I kind of prefer the second option)
(still need to check if maximum is below 1)
(second option is to make minimum 1)
(add edit to comments 3x comment width to textarea width 2x)
99 maximum seems to be enforced by backend
(but is it really?)
[edit: 999 enforced]
- add preview of previous panels to paint area
(much needed feature)
add index next to panel (on strip page)
[edit: not really needed - but there is index on the new image preview bar]
- scratch that the maximum can go beyond 99
(bruh)
[edit: maximum was changed to 999]
- i guess I should add a message whenever someone
likes or stars your stuff (the ever present jam bell)
(now it seems we got enough space for it)
- better NSFW image (current one is still the one
I have quickly drawn in mspaint)
update: some easy to fix stuff is fixed
added new comment box (still need get it to behave on phones)
min 1 panel max 999
0 panels no longer show up on the completed strips page
- seems that you need to refresh for the avatar update to show up
dunno if it's a browser thing
- add change email to the profiles
- add email recovery for passwords
(right now emails are not store at all despite asked at login,
but I guess it's more secure this way)
- adding an username without emoji is cleaned up by php and
it's not warning you that something is wrong with it ..
not sure how to fix that yet
another fix: turns out the site was running on PHP 7.1
(it should have been running PHP 7.4 )
Completed and inprogress looks surprisingly well on Mobile comments and the header not so much ... 😓
show the date on comments in small font? (at least on the forum?)
[edit: check]
maybe on phones there only should be a back and forth button
instead of page numbers? (we have not reached 20 panels needed for a second page completed page yet - this can wait)
maybe topics should go in reverse order on phones so that you dont have to scroll all the way down? (or maybe that should be for all comments and all devices?)
replacing avatars seem to work just take forever to refresh
at least I can be sure that the site is cached
pressing "unclaim" on the strip should take you back to the strip (instead of your claimed pages)
new paint tool: textbox is not visible
(so far this seems to affect only some computers ?)
mobile drawing bug (described by Elle): it could may be fixed by turning off caching for the drawing tool page?
(need to replicate it somehow first)
need to figure out what is causing the brush offset
(not sure if css is enough to fix this ..may be it could be corrected in javascript somehow?)
- submit button doesn't always work (kind of a critical feature)
- some devices still have problem with touch (I'm going to bite those hardware manufacturers what are they even doing)
on 1024x768 (and probably many other resolutions)
the canvas overlaps the palette
a thought on the submit button problem: is it a problem with the button itself or the overlay?
some devices produce anti-aliased (or just blurred?) images and some don't .. also is it really an issue?
test out anchor links \# on phones (and on desktop too)
jump to the commments (and possibly back)
make number of likes text unselectable (in fact the whole strip page can be selected .. not sure if its any use or could cause problems)
hmm.. the whole site can be copy pasted into Word (with losing most of the layout though) .. maybe I should keep this?
maybe the link for registering could be moved to login page?
(and have more space on the menu)
after editing a strip insist that the max images to be at least the current amount drawn so far? (maybe just set it for the sliders and allow it to be hacked?)
darn this list is getting long..
some stuff fixed from here already
oh well.. editing comments will be added after the new layout is done
ok so far there were repors that the Submit button on the paint tool doesn't work (on some devices)
also there seem to be a trouble with changing the strip settings (e.g.) the title
what is going on here .. and most importantly how to reproduce it?
with the new drawing tool fix I also managed to break the re-draw avatar mode (let's see if anyone notices)
ok so javascript is supposed to have pressure support (I tried to reverse engineer the PJ tool but I haven't found the keyword for it .. strange)
there is a wacom example for tablets (for javascript) maybe I can learn something from it (stay tuned)
(this is peyo 📱 testing account) go down link only works if you are logged in
show some message if you have no strips claimed.. and one for if you dont have any passed to you
testing the tablets now ..
this is the first time I'm actually using tablet for testing .. it seems to be ok .. but all this means is that I won't be able to tell if I fixed things
so far theres is an interesting bug -- my tablet makes these very small loops for lines (but it might be intentional from wacom? their official javascript example has the same thing)
seems PJ also added smoothing for drawing lines somehow (which is also not present in the wacom demo unfortunately)
keep the small thumbs for in-progress and just show more of them one one page? hmm
(I kind of like how there are two of them in a row on my phone.. but that is only my phone)
problem: avatars don't update after you redraw them (the stay in cache, the file changes but you'll never know)
browser refresh does nothing
opening a new tab: nothing
html meta config: did nothing, ignored by both chrome and firefox
htaccess: only resulted in avatars slowly disappearing (seemingly randomly) I quickly got rid of the htaccess file
adding date after the filename trick: server returns a 500 error
nuclear option is to rewrite everything and always check the sql for the new filename
I had to go in the network tab and manually clear the fucking cache to get the image to update just wtf
so the allegedly nuclear option for the meta tag that turns off all caching ever means that you still have to reload the page after changing the avatar..
(turns out 'no caching' means something very different from what you would first except)
so at least re-drawing avatars somewhat works now
and of course on firefox I have the cached and non-cached version of the image show up on the same fucking page (one in the header and one in the users)
need a go up and go down button for completed (and underway) page on mobile
ok turns out I cannot test the pressure support because Win7 doesn't send pressure info on browsers (but only browsers, pressure works fine in Krita .. I just don't get it .. what so special about a browser that makes supporting this impossible for it)
for chromium-based browsers, you can simply get this [extention](https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/stylus-pressure/ecelnbeiglepohnlccefodfpmedepoll) to enable pressure support on windows 7
firefox im not sure about
turns out the plugin needs some extra drivers installed .. and so far both the Wacom drivers and the WinTab installer told me that i can go and fuck myself: they are not compatible (which is strange because before the reinstall it worked great .. I wish i could remember how I solved it before)
battery: glad to hear that! (buttons coming soon)
- a strange bug with drawing on tablet .. but only happens on the site and doesn't happen on the drawing tools prototype.. which is weird because their javascript file is identical..
vertical sliders are set differently in all browsers .. and none of them seem to work .. wtf
working on a new color picker .. it's functional now but now comes the hardest part: arranging the buttons somehow
I'll try to use some relative position trickery, I have given up on css for this tool
some somewhat easy to add features I want to add and don't want to forget:
- reverse strips (same as reverse jam)
- secret strips (only gets visible once completed)
- tight strips (no space vertically between panels .. can you guess what it will be for?)
hmm would need a seperate BOOL for each so they can be combined too.. (not much point for tight and reverse until the preview in the drawing tool is ready)
setting a background color in js/css: it's turned into a string either in #xxxxxx or rgb(xx,xx,xx) format .. seemingly randomly .. no internal function to convert between the two: you need to write your own .. wtf
- show a different message if you attempt to look at a strip with 0 images
fixed some alignments and adjusted the comment title bar.. seems ok on 📱 so far
no idea about the cache prob though.. added every possible cache related header.. im at least glad that I don't do this for a living, web design is torture
added a little icon to the progress panels
this way I know someone is drawing and I
potentially won't nuke drawing tools from under them
(also could be used to check if a panel was claimed without visiting it I suppose)
addendum to #104
chrome also kindly warns you that you are using the wrong format
the one that it has set itself
sigh
the new color selector is kind of problematic
a simple bar for the hue would have been enough..
it looks cool but i'm not sure how practical is it in the end
then again selecting the color on mobile without a stylus is impossible anyway (at least precisely)
it would need its very own version of this tool with some bigger buttons perhaps.. anyway it's low priority for now
a hidden mode: you only see the description of the previous drawing and it only gets revealed once completed
pros
- would be somewhat easy to implement
cons
- there are already so many sites with a similar gag (each claiming to be that wacky unique game on the internet like no other)
- you can cheat by changing the number of images and declare it completed early
- descriptions are optional (i guess even when mandatory it could be still all spaces)
another feature another new bug;
- nuke color doesn't change after you mix up a new color
tablet update: dug out my win10 pc and the Wacom Feel Driver told me it cannot recognise my device.. I'm not feeling it either: if I ever buy a new tablet it won't be a wacom I can tell you that much
(and once again Krita comes to the rescue to prove the pressure works.. only the browser support is problematic)
also on 1600x900 resolution the sliders are off screen
(they at least appear with zoom out so it's not high prio at least)
it's seems we had some 10 min server outage .. I had a small panic because I thought an update broke the page again
testing archiving: one problem with the new fancy panel is that internet archive header completely overlaps it:
[https://web.archive.org/web/20220531185424/http://www.panelchutney.testhosting.hu/completed_panel/0](https://web.archive.org/web/20220531185424/http://www.panelchutney.testhosting.hu/completed_panel/0)
I developed a new state of the art update system
where I actually make a new folder/directory
for the new updates before just whopping them up to the server like I used to..
this way I won't be knocking out critical configs with the local testing configs
coding for the web is weird.. I got the feeling they didn't expect people to use the tech for enterprise sized projects: like a little site with drawings
* add a 'go back to strip' button to the pass this strip page (low prio as the back button does the same)
apparently after rolling my own css and color conversion now I have to make the bezier calculations myself as well..
html5 DIY
- todo: load the old avatar for redraw profile (and so this way I don't need to add a warning about replacing the old one either)
- todo: I still have not fixed the alignment for 'create new thread' page
two 'big' features still to go:
- editing comments
- password recovery by email
also I'm not sure how to approach the messaging system..
do we really need a message for every little like?
strip 21 is my 0/0 game
its now even got comments!
since you cant access games with 0 panels, you cant unlike it and it will be stuck on your likes page
at least until you make it so strips with 0 panels dont show up on the likes page
oh of course
I think I forgot to check for 0 panels on the new use in-progress page too..
it doesnt show up in user in-progress page since that shows panels, not strips, so a 0 panel game wouldnt show up anyway?
if I did the sql join right it will not.. I think I should rest a bit before adding more new stuff though..
at some point I should go through all sql statements and make sure they are all proofed to injections ..
also need to test the session stealing protection
and that concludes testing for today.. I wonder how long it will take for people to ask me to disable this?
- another bug: if descriptions have quotation marks they dont show up as hints
(maybe they should be just text displayed on top of the image in the first place?)
and now I can finally clean up this list ..
only 144 comments to look through..
I keep forgetting the updates on the HOME page .. but i'm not sure if anyone cares
im likely the only other person who has noticed
honestly for stuff like that, having some equivalent to a sticky thread at the top of the forums would make more sense
I kind of prefer announcing new stuff with drawings now .. probably not the smartest way to do it
things I keep forgetting:
- redesign the color picker
(perhaps to be something more button based? maybe something that could be used on mobile easily)
I only noticed recently I screwed this up:
- Likes need to be above the comments
a new idea for mobile: multiple pages
kind of like tabs but you just got two arrows that go
to next or previous pages
(so only two buttons instead of multiple tabs)
only thing is what to fit on each page
e.g. should the palette be a separate page or always visible
make the comment text are different color than the comment preview (at least slightly)
add comment preview to 'make new thread'
move the number of characters display to the left (and/or under the preview?)
(i never know where to post bugs, im just gonna dump this here)
having gotten my first ever pass, ive got some new data!
for some reason, you can only unclaim a passed strip via the claims page, the unclaim button does not show up on the strips page.
additionally its a bit weird that you dont see the duration of the pass yourself when everyone else can?
with the mentions working now you can dump them anywhere (but this is the best place)
not sure if this is intentional...

also on the claims page

i think itd make sense for the pass to expire once youve claimed it, but maybe thats just me
right now they only 'expire' if you do the drawing..
but it's indeed kinda redundant to say you have it claimed when it's passed to you
ok I passed you one for a test.. it should now show hours and you should be able to unpass it on the strip page
(I think it still says both claimed and passed on the strip page .. I kind of want to keep it and not.. but have not decided yet.. like still say it but have only one avatar link i'm not sure yet)
unpass button is indeed on the strip page now!
you could have it so its "this strip is passed to and claimed by" and then a single avatar link
it still makes the "strips claimed by you" prompt show up on the claims page, but it only links to the strip in the "passed to you" section, so not really an issue, i suppose
also another thought ive had is
would it be possible to make timestamps use your system timezone rather than the servers, or would that require a complete overhaul with how timestamps are handled?
I have not looked into it yet (the timestamps) I'm pretty sure it's possible but it's also kind of low priority
todo: now that the backups are confirmed to work ok they should be removed after the panel is submitted successfully (they start to consume a lot of space and there is no longer any use for them after submit.. for now there is no rush as there is still plenty space left)
Password recovery under testing .. (but it's more of a login with code you got in the e-mail now)
wayback seems to fail to archive the html pages too .. not just the php based ones ..
could it be because it just doesn't like https?
.. or maybe it has trouble saving european sites?
Bug: I ended up breaking edit panels and nobody noticed so far..
(edit: fixed)
for reverse panels: move the next panel to top and make it say 'draw previous panel'
need to fix footer for user panel pages
(edit: only broken if the list is empty)
turns out the weird flash for color select is the mobile drawing a blue rectangle over every touchable thing
so at least it's not a bug
trying to get the layers to work right now.. so far the undo and backup works .. hardest part is how to make an eraser (aka how to erase alpha from an existing layer?)
layers are now under testing..
there seem to be no major necessary features left (apart from the domain and testing everything that is)
I'll try and take a break now
fixes todo:
- forgot to upgrade color picker [X]
- drawing tool strip preview emoji is broken [X]
- comment character counter placement [X]
- set different color for text area for comments? [X]
- editing a strip setting to also bump them [X]
- claimed text shows up even with no claimed strips [X]
- owner cannot draw for friends only strips [X]
- cannot pass a strip even if passed time expired [X]
- indicate somehow if a strip is passed and claimed by the same person (instead of 2 seperate info) [X]
(for now only show one or the other)
- add checkboxes of the new features to make new strip [X]
- move draw next panel on to top for backwards strips [X]
- comb through this todo list for stuff I forgot about
features todo:
- show the dates in local time [X]
- markdown preview (this auto list thing is driving me crazy) [X]
- add feature: secret strips
- paging for all users page
working on zooming .. surprisingly easy so far .. only problem is that the window scrollbar doesn't want to appear on mobile..
zoom seem to work on mobile .. that's a first
only text left .. maybe we can live without it? (for now)
turns out I broke the comment date display
(nobody noticed so far)
(edit: and it's fixed now)
(edit2: it was noticed alright)
nobody noticed? i said two days ago
["we are frozen in time"](http://www.panelchutney.testhosting.hu/strip/131#COM5)
referencing to the fact that all the comments are the same exact date and time
i figured your response to it was you acknowledging it but also saying its not that important
in hindsight i probably should have clarified more rather than trying to be cheeky
@Carrot sorry I thought you meant that not much was happening around here :(
more todo:
- link anchors for reverse strips are in the wrong order [X]
- there is no space between in-progress panels and the page numbers [X]
- feature: secrect strips
- paging for users
another thing I keep forgetting: store when an user was last active (but only show as an info, no streaks, only would be useful for passing strips )
(also I should think up some alternative for streaks)
maybe it would be less confusing if your own panels are shown with yellow stars by default?
yellow stars, as in replacing the grey star on own-panels with a yellow one so it doesn't look like it can be clicked? yeah!
'all comments' section could be handy for comic discoverability too - as completed comics grows, it might be a way to stumble onto older finished ones... and when 'completed' gets big, a 'show me random completed comic' button comes to mind too! (just like you already have for finding in-progress ones)
so far I replaced the stars..
I updated the latest comments (maybe i should just add paging for all four of these and let it go back to the very first ones - and do the user comments in the same style)
@battery @carrot how do you feel about just changing the random to give you any random comic?
(right now it only chooses from in-progress ones.. but I guess it's not really needed with all in-progress strips already visible .. so like instead of two seperate randoms just have one really random button)
that doesnt really seem useful since you either want to browse finished strip, or want to find something to contribute to
what you could do is remove the random button from the top bar and instead have a separate button on the pages themselves
so if you want to find a random completed strip, youd go to the completed page and then press the "random" button there, and if you want to random in-progress strip, youd go to the underway page and press the random button there
(removing the random button from the top bar would also solve the current situation where on mobile, the notification and +new button overlap)
good catch .. I guess the mobile header needs to be rethinked a bit..
btw how do you feel about replacing home with the completed panels? (this is a question for everyone)
I pummeled the feed pages into shape: they all have paging now and big panels (you should be able to go all the way to the very first comments and images)
tried to tackle random by hacking the header -- but it got a bit confusing: on completed strips it takes you to a random completed strip .. otherwise to a random in-progress strips
I guess I shouldn't try to force it to be on the header ..
or maybe I should make a second header below it for these context sensitive things
(also for now I took off the random icon from the mobile; it's still in the context menu so should be still useable)
id keep the home page for information for the time being
having the random button on the page itself would definitely be a lot more intuitive than on the top bar
a sub bar actually doesnt sound like a bad idea! it could also house other features like sorting options and whatever else you come up with later down the line
im guessing the comments page on feed is still a work in progress since its pretty jacked up at the moment. it should probably just cut the message short if its longer than four lines and have some indication like an ellipsis at the bottom to imply that its a shortened message?
(you will likely also need to disable image embeds for the page cause thats a whole nother mess)
that was quick getting random to be context sensitive, peyo! it's working for me! I agree that the current home info is useful for new visitors. I go to 'completed' first in a session to see if I've missed the end of any comics, then I go to 'underway'. So 'completed' as the landing page would fit what I do at least! ah ah
turns out the solution for random panels was in front of me the whole time .. I feel kind of silly now..
(unless you guys don't like it of course)
also I added the user comments section (it only needed a slight modify for the latest comments so it was not much complicated)
@Carrot it's supposed to do that now (there is a maximum height) how does it look on your end?
ok now the site records when the user was last active:login, post comment, draw new panel etc.
(it will be only used as an info later for passing to see if someone was not active for a while and maybe sorting for users .. I don't plan on adding streaks)
also seemed to work ok locally, but please be sure to report if you encounter any unexpected error pages (during normal activity at least)
dice is good! they bop when you hover your mouse over, that's cool.
last active is working by the looks! now we can spy on each other to see who is lurking!!
okay wild idea: an edit button for your own made panels, even in completed strips!?
then if you REALLY wanted to as the artist of the panel, you could add dialogue you wanted to include, align some lines, fix some features, update the style, change things to tie in with following panels. the lifecycle of a comic strip might change a little with this in! stuff could bubble away even more in both 'completed' and 'underway'... I know I'd use it! ooooo
I'm not sure about having an edit button for the panels.. technically it's possible of course..
but I feel mistakes and screwing up is also the point of this game ..
for now I just don't know..
I would like to hear more opinions
the recent comments page definitely looks a lot better
the only thing that feels a bit weird is that the scroll bar appears on comments that arent long enough to need it
if editing panels would be a thing, it should be a time sensitive thing, so youve got like a day to realize you made a mistake and fix it
being able to go back to a panel for a completed game and replace it with something completely different doesnt sound ideal
Yeah, panel editing could cause a lot of chaos and changing of history... reversing the interesting bits! I agree, maybe not a feature to have, or a timed one as you say, Carrot.
ok i found out what was weird with the comments (turns out in css scroll means to always have the scrollbar and you need to set it to auto)
also I fixed up the paging (only visible if there are at least 2 pages)
and changed the top strips/panels a bit
your development is going super so far, @Peyo ! just stumbled accross something - when typing in hex or red/green/blue values in the drawing tool, it seems to be triggering menu items in the background... so it zooms and changes tool and hides and unhides layers as I type in the value! haven't noticed it till now because I have only pasted in hex values. do you reckon there'll be a trick to fix this one?
@battery thanks! I added a quick fix
(we had the same problem with the description, it's just the tools hotkeys: 1-3 is changing layers 4-6 is layer visbility 8-9 is zoom .. they were originally for debug but I thought they might be useful and left them in .. and then forgot about the color selector)
just noticed that the timestamps on the profile page use server time rather than local
id also suggest removing the exact time for join, and just have it as a date, and space the two out a bit (or have on different lines) cause right now they are a bit too crammed together, making it somewhat visually confusing?
@carrot this one is strange, I can tell it replaces the time (as it adds PM and AM on firefox) and it's the same function the comments use .. so I have no idea what could be wrong
anyway I changed it to be on two lines now
okay checking it now, i realize its also wrong again on comments as well
i even tried changing my timezone and it had no effect on the timestamps
@carrot does it happen on all browsers? do you have any error come up in the console?
(my guess is that it either errors out for some reason.. or another previous error prevents the function to be called)
tested it on multiple browsers, same thing
there is an error, but it seems unrelated (receiving end does not exist)
it seems to work now on my end!
new update
######(with a slight hiccup that hopefully didn't affect anyone)
now the preview in the drawing tool also shows the avatars and the image description
few notes on animation strips
- if you have onion skin enabled when you go to submit, it will appear in the submitted panel.
one of the possible fixes to that would be to automatically turn off onion skin when you click the submit button?
- itd be nice if there was a slider to select the intensity of the onion skin
(being able to choose a tint for it would be nice as well, but possibly more difficult to implement and not as important)
- ping pong animation mode so instead of it going through frames 1 2 3 4 1 2 3 4, itd be 1 2 3 4 3 2 1
it would be nice to be able to edit the frames youve made since going back and forth is a big thing for animation, but thats maybe outside the current scope
darn this animation thing opened a whole can of worms 😨
so far I added the fix for the onion skin getting baked
visibility should be easy but I'm not sure about if tint is possible
ping-pong anim also sounds simple to add in the future
for now you guys seem to do exceedingly well even without edit frames.. but if there are more 'votes' for it I guess it can also be easily added
I'd like to vote for editing frames for animation! I don't know how necessary it is for normal strips or if I'd ever use it for them (mainly because if it was a strip with others I'd feel bad about changing the thing others had done art in response to... plus the temptation for abuse is through the ROOF and could easily start edit wars as a thing) but for animation it's almost necessary to prevent an animator becoming the prisoner of their own errors. And that REALLY kills the urge to animate. Also being able to go back later and do cleanup work would be marvelous.
Admittedly I don't know how this would impact multi-person animations. I tend to operate in 100% naive good faith on stuff so people are always pulling out new ways to sabotage efforts that make me go "Wow, really?" Perhaps the creator of an animation could have the option to turn panel editing on and off as a checkbox.
Editing panels for normal strips feels like something that could be exploited by bad faith operators, but also at the same time feels like something that would only be beneficial for everyone in projects that go well. Perhaps a check for "Edits Allowed By Friends" would be something to consider, so you can ride herd on who has creative control in a project you start. It's a complex issue!
i guess we are at 3 votes now .. so let's give it a go
for now it's only for animated panels
(you can only edit your own panel so it should be ok)
and I know I already made a topic about this but:
please do not attempt to edit old animations
(because the backups are lost you would have to start the frame all over)
also I expect a few things might got broken with this change (tested it locally and here too but I always miss something)
on the topic of chaos and excitement, @Peyo I haven't made a new strip to be able to find out myself (not ready to yet!!!), but are there chaos prevention controls for the creator of a strip?
Like, if someone made a great strip and I came along and contributed a panel which didn't really fit the mood, could the creator press a button to split my panel into a new and separate comic owned by me?
Then, the original artists could keep going with their original vision and I could continue it with others the way I had in mind!
That way if something goes wild, contributors to a comic could tag the comic owner in a comment instead of needing to tag you, Peyo, and ask them nicely to perform a split? Then it's up to the owner to keep or split!
or maybe there's a different approach...
@battery
in a way, they are minimal and I'm sure you already know about them:
for now please rely on either `secret`
##### (where people should not be able to edit at all unless you pass them the strip)
or `friends only`
to prevent this situation happening in the first place
splitting up the strip would be a very delicate and difficult to implement operation so don't expect it anytime soon (or at all)
these ones are good preventative measures, thank you Peyo! yeah, split not really needed if these are in.
just some small fixes:
- completed secret strips now should show up in user pages
- color picker now shows the old color
itd be nice if the pass message said who passed the strip to you
hear hear ..
(for now your two suspects should be creator of the strip and whoever drawn the last image)
(update: you should be able to see it in the message now)
hmm.. it seems I forgot to add the date conversion to the messages too
(messages need much more work in general, still need to let you look at the archived messages etc)
editing on comments might be broken now
the edit page does not show the comment, it might not be actually linking to the comment its supposed to edit
EDIT: seeing what happens if I just copy-past the same message again and submit it as an edit (plus adding this bit)
EDIT 2: okay so it does correctly edit the intended comment, it just no longer includes the orignal comment in the text box (it just had a bunch of empty spaces?) and the preview also is just blank
`Carrot^abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzabcdefghijklmnopqr new line`
it might be due to a special character
(when it happened before that was the usual cause)
which comment are you testing on?
ive tried on multiple different comments on different threads and on strips. same thing on all of them.
EDIT: okay it seems to be specific to my browser
dissenter is the one having problems. the other browsers seem to not have this issue. might just have to swap over
ok so far I found some old chrome on android that has the same problem .. of course debugging on android is a bit tricky ..
also I kind of remember that dissenter used to have some other problems with the site .. any of them still persists or solved?
the other problems solved when you made the site more mobile-friendly
I found a dissenter installer on archive (looks like an old hacked chrome?)
seems to be a simple error: "str.replaceAll is not a function"
ok supposed to work now
also this might sound like a strange request: please click on your name and see if you can mention yourself `Carrot^abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzabcdefghijklmnopqr new line`
edit works properly now! excellent! mentioning myself seems to work, lets see
`Carrot^abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzabcdefghijklmnopqr new line`
is it also adding a space before the mention intentional?
EDIT: and the mention pings me properly as well
yes if the message starts with @ it doesn't work (and I still cannot figure out why so for now it just adds an extra space)
