Could it be possible!? (Gone wrong) (No clickbait) (3AM)

So i initally thought of making a huge list of dumb things mainly as a joke, requesting a bunch of far fetched stuff. But since the list was so long it didn't fit so... yeah... hahaha NOW however i'm actually considering one of those things! And wonder how possible it would actually be... So just thought of throwing it out there just in case i dunno... If not then no problem i understand! SO. The idea was basically having like a "flipbook" of sorts, or like a book mode, where you would actually have to press "next" and "previous" to reveal the respective panels. Now the catch would be however that maybe below it there would be a sort of "history" of all the panels like if the game was made of 22 panels for example you'd had 1-22 numbers under it, and so you could alternatively click on one of those numbers to jump to that specific panel. So you could potentially have a more orginized "choose your own adventure" sort of thing. Instead of making sequels, wich on it self is cool! yet i think sometimes you just one things to be short and precise! You could also just simply view all panels (like the animation mode) to have it in a scrolling fashion if you prefer... (could be redundant but... maybe you'd like to see all the panels without shuffling through all of them through the history!) But yeah... that's that! Got curious! EDIT: also first post in the forums yay!

I actually really like that idea. That could also be done in small tiles as well where it could be displayed below the panel you're currently viewing in a thumbnail-like grid. Right? I'm no programmer but that could conceivably be an easy way to do something like that and even have the panel you're currently viewing have a highlighted border around the small thumbnail below. Edit: I haven't even drawn here yet. Lol. Art block is a cruel mistress.

Nooo! A thumbnail would ruin the surprise! See it's like peeling a banana, when you are peeling it you make out the details as you go, but if you could just magically have it instantly peeled you'd be blown away, firstly, and all the details would be shown at once! (wich is what i would have in mind. it completely revealing itself in one go) I just had in mind Little numbers under the panel, so you could for example leave a comment of "Go to panel 12" or "Go back to panel 11" Sort of thing, and you woulnd't actually know what those panels would look like! However. I'm imagining it would be weird when you're adding to it, you'd had to plan things out in a way. It's anyways mostly to appease a certain niche, so i think things are fine without it too. Then again could still just use sequels for that!

Wait, what. There's a niche for this? Well I was way off on what I originally thought your concept was, lol.

While I get the appeal of your idea, I don't think it really makes sense for a collaborative website. Also anyone who uses the feed to see new panels will immediately see the thumbnails for all the panels anyway, defeating the purpose of this whole thing. A novel idea, but I'm not sure this site is a good fit for it.

I think this should be possible.. for now I added it to my todo list hmm I guess I could also add an option to hide panels from the feed ? (but no panel will ever be truly hidden due to the file naming convention we use -- which is important for archiving)

`Peyo` Uuhmm... peyo, just a very random and specific question... Excuse me, ehem... As i understand panels are like... archived in a way... I was wondering if- and bare with me and excuse my ignorance on website stuff- The original panel is archived from the "Edited" version, ya know? like when you have the edit feature on, Is there like... Two copies...? or even all attempts sneakily archived!? Like for example https://pchutney.com/strip/42#IMG1 This pic was edited AFTER the higher res was implented (mainly to see if something would happen if you'd had old and new side by side, didn't notice much of a difference then!) Is there the original Popping cat somewhere inside the PC servers!? TLDR; Are edited panels "original" still accesable somehow? Just wondering! Don't get suspicious!

`CocoSplat` the way it works is the backup is used for editing (to save space) so for anims and editable strips you overwrite your backups (main concern is that they don't get lost - but alas it makes undoing your work in this case a pain) (also you can use the save feature to keep a copy of your layers on your device for safekeeping - and I recommend you do) anyway I sometimes make a full backup of the site just in case - here is what I found for this strip: https://imgur.com/a/IiHQ8Y2

`Peyo` AHh i seeeee, so if i'm getting this straight, theoretically i could edit a panel as much as i want without flooding the PC server with a buncha little tweaks and such! Right? Given that it's being replaced! Good idea with the saving feature i didn't even realize it was there, Cheers! ANyways thanks for answering!

yes, editing is unlimited like that the only way to flood the servers is to draw a lot of panels (but that would take a considerable effort: so far we got about ~5000 images at ~700mb - you would need to draw at least 15000 more to fill the current space - and even then I would just probably upgrade our hosting for more space)

Nice! Well... i did plan on doodlin' here to warm up for the draws again... Hope not to go over 5000 images heh What IS the opinion of just drawing random stuff by yourself here... is it okay? Could almost make a whole new thread about it! As far as i know, One could simply have a account somewhere and post those things, But it just feels a bit more at ease here! And i guess i have the excuse to not pour so much effort on things kind of... 😅 maybe i should... Just sometimes feels like i'm disrespecting the collab part of a site like this!
